About the Buena Vista Chamber of Commerce

Supporting Buena Vista’s Business Community

The Buena Vista Chamber of Commerce is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting a prosperous and resilient local business community. Our mission is simple: supporting economic vitality through advocacy and partnerships. We believe that small businesses are the heartbeat of Buena Vista, and we work to create an environment where local businesses can connect, grow, and succeed.

The Chamber provides resources and opportunities for businesses at every stage, from people considering starting a business or relocating to Buena Vista to established businesses looking for ways to connect with customers and other members of the community. Through networking, educational opportunities, marketing resources, member programs, and advocacy, we help strengthen the connections that make our local economy work.

Connecting Businesses and Community

The Chamber’s role extends beyond serving its membership. We are a resource for residents, visitors, and anyone interested in discovering what makes Buena Vista such a special place to live, work, and visit.

Our website and Member Directory make it easy to discover local businesses, while our events and programs create opportunities for people to meet, connect, and get involved. Throughout the year, the Chamber organizes and supports community traditions including the Fourth of July Festival, Gold Rush Days, Hometown Holidays, Community Coffee, Business After Hours, ribbon cuttings, and other gatherings that bring local businesses and community members together.

The Chamber also operates the Welcome Center at 111 East Main Street in the heart of historic downtown. The Wedge building, constructed in 1883, is believed to be the first building constructed in Buena Vista. Today, the Welcome Center serves as a resource for visitors looking for information about local businesses, events, recreation, lodging, dining, and other community resources.

A History of Supporting Local Business

The Buena Vista Chamber of Commerce was officially incorporated with the State of Colorado in 1976. For nearly five decades, the Chamber has evolved alongside the community while maintaining a consistent focus on helping local businesses thrive. Historical Chamber materials describe its role as promoting and enhancing the economic vitality of the surrounding community while serving as a business advocate for its members.

As Buena Vista has grown and changed, so has the Chamber’s role. Today, that work encompasses much more than traditional business advocacy. The Chamber provides opportunities for businesses to build relationships, promotes local businesses and community events, connects entrepreneurs with resources, and helps introduce visitors and newcomers to the people and organizations that make Buena Vista unique.

Looking Toward the Future

Buena Vista’s character is rooted in its small-town identity, independent businesses, beautiful surroundings, and strong community connections. The Chamber’s vision is to cultivate a prosperous and resilient local business community while celebrating the small-town life that makes rural Colorado special.

We believe economic vitality and community vitality go hand in hand. By advocating for local businesses, creating opportunities for connection, promoting Buena Vista, and partnering with organizations throughout the community, the Chamber works to help local businesses succeed while preserving the qualities that make Buena Vista a place people are proud to call home.

Whether you’re a business owner, resident, or visitor, the Chamber is here to help you connect with Buena Vista.
